Set up a stereo pair

You can get surround sound by combining two identical speakers into a stereo pair.

Create a stereo pair

  1. In the Smart home with Yasmina section of the  Yango Play app, open the list of smart devices.

    Open appYango Play

  2. Select a speaker.

  3. Tap Combine stereopair. Select the speaker to pair with. The speakers in a stereo pair should be the same model, have the same sound characteristics, be connected to the same network, and be in the same room.

  4. Select a left and right speaker. They'll play the left and right stereo sound channels.

  5. Select the main speaker. It'll listen to you and respond to your commands.

    Alert

The second speaker will only play sound — it won't be able to hear you. All its settings and scenarios will be reset, and they won't be restored if you disconnect the stereo pair.

  6. When you finish the setup in the app, wait for the stereo pair to finish setting up. That can take up to five minutes or up to half an hour, if there are updates to install (one of the speakers is used for the first time). When the process is complete, you'll hear a special sound bouncing from one speaker to the other.

    Open appYango Play

The  Yango Play app will show the stereo pair as a single device, not two separate speakers. To separate the speakers, disconnect the stereo pair.

This feature is in beta testing. If you're having problems creating or using a stereo pair, go to the Problems with the stereo pair section.

Disconnect the stereo pair

  1. In the Smart home with Yasmina section of the  Yango Play app, open the list of smart devices.

  2. Select the stereo pair.

  3. Tap Disconnect stereopair.

Once you unpair the speakers, the second one may not respond for up to five minutes. The settings and scenarios that you reset on it aren't restored.

Where to put the stereo pair in the room

To get the best surround sound, bear in mind the following things:

  • Place the speakers at a distance of 1.8–2.4 m from each other.
  • The sound profile is the most accurate when the angle between the listener and the speakers is 40–60 degrees.
  • The optimal height for the speakers is approximately the level of the listener's ears.
