# Initial activation and setup
1. Connect the smart speaker to a power outlet using the power adaptor.
2. Wait for Yasmina to greet you.
3. Open {height=20px} Yango Play mobile app and log in.
4. Go to the **Smart home with Yasmina** section and tap the **Quick Setup** button.
5. Add the new speaker and follow the prompts.

Connect the speaker manually.
1. Open the {height=20px} Yango Play app, tap → **Device with Yasmina** in the top right corner, and select the speaker you want to connect.
1. Follow the in-app instructions and Yasmina's tips.

Don't share video or audio recordings of your speaker connecting to Wi-Fi. The sound contains an encrypted version of your Wi-Fi password.

1. First, turn on a regular Wi-Fi network on your phone.
1. Turn on the hotspot in your phone's settings.
1. Make sure the Wi-Fi network name doesn't contain Arabic letters, spaces, or special characters. To change it, go to **Settings** → **Network & Internet** → **Hotspot & Tethering** → **Wi‑Fi Hotspot** → **Access Point Name (APN)**.
1. On the Wi-Fi selection screen of the {height=20px} Yango Play app, tap **Connect to a hidden network**. Enter the hotspot name and password. Follow the instructions in the app.
- iOS
1. Turn on the personal hotspot in your phone settings.
1. Make sure the Wi-Fi network name doesn't contain Arabic letters, spaces, or special characters. To change it, go to **Settings** → **Common use** → **About** → **Name**.
1. On the Wi-Fi selection screen of the {height=20px} Yango Play app, tap **Connect to a hidden network**. Enter the hotspot name and password. Follow the instructions in the app.

To set up the speaker via the wired internet on first use:
1. Connect the cable from the package to the Ethernet port.
1. On the settings screen, select **Wired connection**.
To switch the connection from wireless to wired, use the Ethernet cable without additional settings. If you then unplug the cable, the speaker will automatically connect to Wi-Fi.

We recommend setting up the speaker via Wi-Fi. To do this, disconnect the Ethernet cable from Yasmina Max and try to [set up the speaker again](https://yasmina.yango.com/support/en/speaker/settings/change-wifi-max.md).
Once you've completed the setup, you'll be able to switch the connection from wireless to wired with no additional actions required.

Note that the speaker's location in the room can greatly impact the sound. Try different spots to find acoustics you like. We recommend putting the speaker at least 20-30 cm away from the wall.
